The best of example of a violence in Skyrim:

 

Skyrim is a prime example of what can be considered as a violent video game, because parts of its lore contain killing and sacrifing which can be seen as violent. Moreover, there is always a constant state of war, not only in Skyrim, but in the Elder Scrolls series. 

 

So, is it? (The usual answer)

 

When questioned, many people will answer that video games are violent--it causes people to become more aggressive and there has been countless researches that has been done for the past few decades.

This type of answer typically falls short, because violence can be controlled through the player (Our Thesis).

This can be seen in "Boethiah's Calling" and "Azura's Star" which are quests within Skyrim.

Skyrim is violent by choice, whereas religions canons are violent by mandate. As such, it is argued that Skyrim can be considered less violent than quite a few religious canons. We cite evidence from gameplay, series lore, and scholarly articles to prove this claim.
